On this 6-day Serengeti migration safari, the great migrating herds of wildebeests and zebras are situated at Lake Ndutu which is found in the Ngorongoro conservation area and a part of Serengeti eco-system and our main target is from Dec to April. From January it is the best time to witness the calving as they spread out across the short-grass plains and predators are just around waiting for their opportunities to make a hunt. You will experience both Tarangire, South Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara.

TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival in Arusha

You will be picked up from the airport by a GreyJoy Tours representative and conveyed to your accommodation in Arusha where you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the serengeti migation adventures to come.

Day 2 Arusha to Tarangire National Park.

We set out for Tarangire National Park on a good tarmac road across gently rolling Maasai plains with scattered acacia trees. Tarangire National Park, well known for its large elephant herds, is also host to a multitude of other creatures.

Day 3-4 South Serengeti (Ndutu)

After breakfast, we will head to the Lake Ndutu region, situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a sublime landscape of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. with appetites sated, undertake our game drive in the Ndutu region.

During a short time frame around January, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calves, dropping in the region of half a million young in this awesome act of synchronized birthing. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.

Day 5 Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will drive from Southern Serengeti ( Ndutu) to the Ngorongoro Crater. When you first see Ngorongoro Crater, it looks like a forgotten world.

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

This, a relatively small but diverse park, 120km west of Arusha, is so named for the shallow salt lake that covers some seventy percent of the surface area, flooding and drying with the seasons and home to thousands of flamingo and in the extraordinary region of 500 other bird species. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab dotted cliffs.

Great experience
We just got back from an amazing 4-day Safari with Greyjoy tours . The company really stands out with their outstanding level of service! The office was very helpful in customizing our trip to our needs and our budget. Our guide, Eugen, was very very experienced, he told us every single detail about the animals and background information about the national parks. Above any expectations, he served every day a super delicious lunch in a great scenery. Honestly, the lunches organized by Greyjoy were by far the best food we had in Tanzania! Eugen even cleaned the Safari Jeep every day, not that we have expected that at all. This tour starts and end in Arusha, Stars at 8am on Day 1 at your Arranged accommodation (location may vary – we’ll confirm the location in your final tour Itinerary.

What to pack for a Tanzania Safari?

NOTE

Lodges are full service facilities with private rooms or cottages with private bathrooms and have restaurants and lounges.  Most have swimming pools. Many lodges are architecturally stunning made with local materials and inspired by local designs and the environment.

Tented camps are permanent or semi-permanent camps sited in areas of excellent game viewing. These provide many of the comforts of a lodge within private spacious canvas tents on a solid permanent base with beds and private baths, and high-quality meals. Tented camps are more intimate than lodges as they generally accommodate 12 to 20 guests.

We recommend booking as soon as you know you can travel, and have decided on which tour you would like to go on. Some of our tours can be quite popular so it’s best to secure your spot as soon as possible. Your spot can be booked with just a 20% deposit and full balance is due 45 days prior to departure. 

We have guests in their late teens to their mid 60’s, but the average age is between 25–45. More important than age is attitude – we have found over the years that if you have a thirst for adventure then age is no barrier. Please do keep in mind though that a reasonable level of fitness is required – we can talk you through any specifics. The minimum age of joining a tour is 18 years old. 

When booking a tour you can choose to pay in full, or reserve your seat with a 20% deposit and pay it off over time. The balance is due 45 days before your tour’s departure.

During the time between paying the deposit and your departure you can add more activities and customise your accommodation.
